1. Wind Energy Activity
The tariff for the upcoming Wind Power Projects set up under the policy shall be
firm at Rs.3.50 per unit and it will be applicable for a period of 10 years from
Commercial Operation Date (COD), subject to approval of the APERC. The tariff for
the period 11th year to 20th year shall be as fixed by the APERC.
The operative period of the policy is 5 years.
The DISCOMS shall have the first right of refusal on Power purchase if the plant
continues to operate after the 20th year of operation from COD. The tariff beyond
20th year shall be as mutually agreed by both the parties.
The Wind Power Projects are not eligible for Banking of Energy. The Energy generated
by captive generating plants, if not consumed during the billing month, would be
deemed to have been sold to respective DISCOM and the DISCOM may pay for such unutilized
energy at the rate of 85% of the tariff as amended.

2. Generation based incentive for grid interacative wind power projects
The Ministry of New and Renewabel Energy (MNRE) has announced Generation based incentive
for Grid interactive Wind Power Projects, vide letter No.53/1/2008-E dated 23-7-2008.
The Ministry will provide through IREDA, a generation based incentive of Rs.0.50
per unit (KWH) for a period of ten years to the eligible project promoters. However,
the components of the scheme will be reviewed when projects aggregating to 49 MW,
which are estimated to generate about 0.9 billions units of electricity are registered
by IREDA. The guidelines can be downloaded from the MNRE website : www.mnre.gov.in
